Make Do and Mend virtual knitting workshop

A pair of woollen socks sent from home during the war lifted morale more than we can imagine.
Ever wanted to try wartime knitting? Register now for the Canada War Museum’s latest virtual Make Do and Mend workshop offering helpful tips and tricks, including how to choose yarn and how to translate vintage needle sizes.
We’ve invited Christine LeGrow and Shirley A. Scott — authors of the award-winning Saltwater Knits book series — to demonstrate using a basic sock pattern. You’ll also learn some history about the important contributions of volunteer knitters during the Second World War, and see a few knitting-related artifacts from the Museum’s collections. Dr. Stacey Barker, Historian, Arts and Military History, and Molly McCullough, assistant curator at the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum, will describe the history of Canadian knitters in the Second World War
2:30pm NL Time, 2:00pm Atlantic 1:00pm EST
In English with simultaneous translation in French.
This event is free.
